What is Season Saver insurance?

Sports parents sacrifice and pay a small fortune for their kids to play on competitive and travel sports teams. But when the child is injured or gets sick, teams don’t usually offer refunds.  We can. With a Season Saver season interruption policy from pomi, if you (up to age 25) or your child misses all or part of the season, pomi can help by reimbursing you  up to 100% of the unused portion of your team registration fees.

Who needs Season Saver insurance?

Any parent with a child participating in sports or an adult up to age 25 participating in sports should consider season interruption coverage.  It’s reasonably priced, starting at just $10, and can help protect your financial investment made to the team.  You don’t have to worry about flushing your money down the drain if an injury or illness happen.

What cancellation reasons are covered?

Covered reasons for cancellation include injury (like a broken bone or concussions) or an illness (like the flu or appendicitis).

What fees are covered?

A Season Saver season interruption policy can pay you back up to 100% of the unused, nonrefundable portion of team registration fees as well as other fees paid directly to the team, like uniform fees.

What is the maximum amount I can be reimbursed?

The maximum limit that can be reimbursed is $25,000.

Does this policy cover a season-ending pandemic like COVID-19?

This policy covers a cancellation if the player contracts COVID-19 and cannot participate. This policy does not offer coverage if the season is canceled due to COVID-19 or another pandemic.

When does coverage start?

Coverage starts as 12:01am the day after you’ve purchased your policy.

Explain how I get my team fees refunded.

Let’s say you paid $6000 for your child to play on a hockey team. The season is 6 months long yet half way through, your child suffers a concussion and misses the remaining three months.  Once you file a claim and provide proper documentation, we can refund you the unused, nonrefundable portion of your team registration fees, which in this case would be 3 months worth or $3000.  If the season is missed entirely, 100% of your fees could be reimbursed.

Is there a maximum age?

The maximum age for a Season Saver policy is 26.

What is Player Protect individual accident insurance?

Individual accident insurance is a great solution to help your family in the event of a sports injury.  With rising healthcare costs, chances are your primary health insurance won’t cover all your medical and dental bills. With pomi, our Player Protect accident protection can help with the costs of those medical and dental bills so you pay less out of pocket.

Who needs Player Protect individual accident insurance?

If you’re a parent of a child who plays organized sports, an individual accident policy from pomi is designed with you in mind.  It helps protect you and your wallet in the event your child is injured while playing an organized sport.  Our policy helps cover costs for things like doctor visits, exams, treatments and more related to the sports injury.  We’re called peace of mind insurance because our policy helps protect you and your wallet if an accident happens, so you can just focus on your child and their recovery.  We offer up to $10K in medical coverage and up to $5K in dental coverage.

Currently our policies are for minors under the age of 18 only.  The policy holder must be their parent or legal guardian. Get started today.

What are the coverages and limits for Player Protect?

A pomi Player Protect individual accident policy provides accident medical coverage ($10,000 limit).  This would help cover medical expenses like doctor visits, physical therapy, tests and more for a covered injury.  The coverage also includes accidental dental coverage ($5,000 limit) to help cover dental expneses like X-rays and dental procedures for a covered injury.  Lastly, there is coverage for accidental death and dismemberment  ($5,000 limit) that would help cover costs if the covered injury results in loss of limb, paralysis or death.   As the policyholder (parent or legal guaridan) the policy also provides protection to you in case you are injured while watching your child play a covered activity (example, being hit by a foul ball during your child’s baseball game).

How much does Player Protect individual accident insurance cost?

A pomi Player Protect policy costs is as low as $25.  It’s meant to be reasonably priced protection for parents like you.  You can choose to cover your child for a tournament, a full season or longer.  It’s up to you.

Can I add multiple sports to my Player Protect policy?

Right now our policies are for one child playing one organized sport but we are working to enhance this feature.  If your child plays more than one sport simply add another policy to cover their participation in the second sport.  There is no limit on the number of policies you can have per child.

Can I add multiple children to the same Player Protect policy?

Right now our policies are for one child playing one organized sport but we are working to enhance this feature.  If you have more than one child simply add another policy to cover the second child.  There is no limit on the number of policies you can have with pomi.

Is there a maximum age?

The maximum age for a participant to be covered with our Player Protect individual accident product is 18. Remember, the policyholder (usually the parent or guardian) can be over 18 and is also covered as a spectator.

What if my child plays for multiple teams?

If your child plays on multiple teams simultaneously for the same sport, we can cover them regardless of which team the injury occurs on, assuming the injury happens during the organized event and within the policy effective dates.

Are pre-exisiting conditions covered?

Pre-existing injuries are not covered unless the participant has been medically cleared to play again. Medical documentation will be required for claims submissions.

Explain how Player Protect can help me save money on medical and dental bills.

Player Protect was designed to help sports parents saving on the rising cost of healthcare. Sports injuries happen often and, usually, your primary health insurance doesn’t cover everything.  With Player Protect, you don’t have to settle for paying out of pocket for those unexpected expenses.  We can help pay for the medical and dental expenses associated with the sports injury. Example, your son is a pitcher and tears his UCL. Doctor visits, MRIs and rehab total $12,000. Your primary health care pays for $8,000 leaving $4,000 left over for you to cover.  With Player Protect, we can help pay that $4,000.
